Famous Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara should have stopped off to see the graffiti art wall murals in Bushwick Brooklyn before he was arrested in New York City for making graffiti and possession of graffiti instruments on a city subway platform. The artist, whose paintings and sculptures sell for over a million dollars, was caught drawing a smiley face with an indelible marker; Nara, in town for an exhibition of his work at Marianne Boesky Gallery, spent twenty-four hours in police custody.

One of the best things about summer is hanging in parks. It gets even better if you have a great concert to listen to. New York offers a vast variety of free summer concerts, just scroll down the list and find your date.
SummerStage arranges concerts through all five boroughs. The main stage is in Central Park at Rumsey Playfield. During summer 2010 they are arranging 33 free concerts so make sure to check out their schedule.
NBC’s Today Show Summer Concerts at Rockfeller Center through August 27th. Most concerts are on Friday morning. The 2010 summer concert series includes big names like Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Christina Aguilera and Carrie Underwood.
Celebrate Brooklyn! at Prospect Park Bandshell. The 2010 Season continues through August 8th.

A new edition to the NYC Earth Day offerings for 2010 is the Terracycle Green Up Shop, located on 8th avenue at 41st in the Port Authority. A joint project by the Fashion Center Business Improvement District, the Port Authority of NY and NJ, and the Times Square Alliance, Terracycle products are made from wrappers, billboard, used plastic…garbage! Talk about re-creating value.
