Is there a better place to celebrate St Patrick’s Day than New York?

Maybe Dublin.. but in the US. Probably not.

The American way of celebrating Saint Patrick’s Day was created in New York City in 1762.

Here are 3 things you do not want to miss on Saint Patrick’s Day, March 17th 2009.

The Parade

The first thing you need to do on St Patrick’s day is to watch the Parade. The 2009 parade begins at 11am.

The route is:

From: 44th Street and Fifth Avenue
To: 86th Street

The Pub Crawl

The second thing to do is to take part of the St. Patrick’s Pub Crawl and drink some cheap green beer.green beer for st paddy's day

The pub crawl takes place during 3 days:

  • Saturday, March 14th,
  • Sunday March 15th and
  • Tuesday, March 17th.

Over 100 bars in the East Village, Murray Hill and Upper East Side are participating.

The Irish Meal

The third and last thing you need to do to complete you New York St Patty’s Day experience is to have an Irish meal. In New York City the meal should be:

    I love to celebrate St.Patrick’s Day,my best friend is 100% Irish.

    It is a day when even if you aren’t Irish you feel Irish!I was raised in NYC and you hit the nail right on the head there is no better place to be on St.Paddy’s Day then there.
