304291345_5379ac0b4eScheduled for November 26, the 83rd Macy’s Thanksgiving parade may take a different route than usual, Crain’s reports.

Plans to make Times Square more pedestrian friendly together with the narrowness of Broadway has forced the parade organizers to consider moving the parade to 6th avenue.

Times Square business leaders are concerned with the move of the event. “We are certainly very concerned,” Tim Tompkins, the president of the Times Square Alliance told Crain’s. “But we understand that the city has not yet made a decision.”

The parade normally starts on Central Park West near the American Museum of Natural History and then travels south to Columbus Circle. From there, it turns onto Broadway, traveling south until it reaches Herald Square, where it turns west onto 34th Street. The official end of the route is at 7th Avenue.
