You are not done with NewYork City before you try some of the awesome food that the Upper West Side has to offer. From bagels and pastas to fine dining and gourmet chocolate.

One of my favorite places to go for an awesome, relaxing breakfast, lunch or dinner is Georgia’s Bake Shop on the corner of Broadway and 89th Street. They serve breakfast until 4 and I highly recommend their salmon eggs Benedict.

You can get excellent Thai food at very affordable prices at Land Thai Kitchen on Amsterdam Ave between 81st and 82nd St. In this tiny restaurant you can get one of the best lunches on UWS. Try their vegetable dumplings, papaya salad or spicy beef salad. If you find the papaya salad too spicy, counter with some Thai iced tea.

Picking up a bagel with lox and cream cheese for a picnic in central park? Then Zabar’s is your place. Despite it’s fame they have managed to keep reasonable prices. Love it!

Max SoHa on Amsterdam Ave at 123rd has fresh pasta and a well-priced wine list. This popular ristorante serves fabulous Italian food to affordable prices. Not without a warning though: it gets very crowded after 7 pm.

Not your average sushi. At Neo Sushi on Broadway between 82nd & 83rd they serve their own “fusion” or Americanized version of sushi. No soy sauce or wasabi in site. Instead each piece comes with its own special sauce, designed to enhance flavor.

Sweet tooth? Don’t miss Jacques Torres at 74th and Amsterdam. JT’s chocolate is magical. Try the wicked hot chocolate, made with melted chocolate and hot peppers. It is really thick and incredibly decadent. The shop has a few small  café tables and some comfy leather chairs where you can sit and sip your hot chocolate.

Fine, French and Fancy. Did you ever have foie gras that melts in your mouth? A visit to Jean Georges is something out of the ordinary. If you’re looking for the full blown experience get the tasting menu with wine pairings. A more modest but very popular option is their $26 lunch on the terrace. Located at One Central Park West (Columbus Circle).
