2011 Easter Egg Hunts in New York
With Easter in end of April this year I’m looking forward to a holiday in beautiful spring weather. Maybe we can catch even more egg hunts and Easter events than usual this year. Here is all you need to know to find a New York City egg hunt near you.

Upper West Side Easter Egg Hunt
Date: Saturday, April 16 10:30am–noon
Location: Upper West Side – North Lawn of Riverside Park at W 79th St
A fun-filled morning of egg hunting and decorating, crafts and face-painting. Kids ages 0-10 will collect as many eggs as they can and turn them in for some sweet surprises. Children are grouped by age, even the littlest searchers can find some eggs before the big kids run off with the rest. Registration begins at 10:30am.

Easter Egg Hunt

Location: Thomas Jefferson Recreation Center (in Thomas Jefferson Park), Manhattan
A full day of activities including an egg hunt, crafts table (decorating eggs and baskets), egg in spoon races and sack races.
Easter Egg Hunt
Date: Sunday, April 24 immediately following the 9:15am service
Location: West Village – Church of St. Luke in the Fields, 487 Hudson St near Christopher St
Right after services, families can join in a festive egg hunt. They also have egg dying from 10am to 11am on Saturday April 23rd.
Paper Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt
Date: Sunday, April 24, 2011, 10am onwards
Location: Upper West Side – Children’s Museum of Manhattan, 212 West 83rd Street, between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenues
Price: $10 (museum admission) for children and adults. Children under 12 months are free.
The scavenger hunt is for children ages 5 and up. Hunt for hidden eggs in the museum and get an Easter prize when you find all six of them. Younger children can make an Easter Egg with markers and fabric.
Family Easter Fun Day
Date: Sunday, April 24 10am–2 pm
Location: East Village – Stuyvesant Town Oval, enter at 16th St and First Ave
In addition to a traditional egg hunt, the Easter Bunny hosts a family fun day with a petting zoo, seasonal crafts and live music.
Easter Fun Fest
Date: Sunday, April 24, 12:30–3pm
Location: Financial District – Trinity Wall Street, Broadway at Wall St
Children 6 and under can hunt for candy-filled plastic eggs in the historic church’s south yard. Children over 6 can join a super scavenger hunt at the North Churchyard. Every child gets a prize at the end. Families can also make bonnets, watch a puppet parade and take pictures with the Easter Bunny at the North Churchyard.
Sunset Park Easter Egg Hunt
Date: Sunday April 16, 2011, noon-4pm
Location: Sunset Park Recreation Center, 43rd Avenue at 7th Avenue, Brooklyn
The activities starts with an egg hunt through the grassy hills of Sunset Park. After the egg hunt you can enjoy egg toss, tug-of-war, bean bag toss, and arts and crafts.
Eggs-Travaganza Easter Egg Hunt
Saturday, April 23 9:00-11am
Location: Crown Heights – Brooklyn Children’s Museum, 145 Brooklyn Ave at St Marks Ave
Cost: $12 (includes museum admission), 5$ for museum members, babies under 1 are free
Bring a basket and hunt in the museum’s garden for eggs filled with prizes, treats and golden tickets. The hunt starts promptly at 9:30am. There will be a special hunting area for gatherers 3 and under.
Brooklyn Heights Spring Egg Hunt
Date: Saturday, April 23 at 10am
Location: Brooklyn Heights – Pierrepont Playground, Columbia Heights and Pierrepont Sts
Candy, treats, balloons and an egg hunt are part of this annual neighborhood fest. There will also be a bake sale to benefit the playground committee. Volunteers needed, please contact the committee at firstname.lastname@example.org.

No egg hunt but still lots of fun. Enjoy an afternoon of egg rolling, contests, magic, refreshments, and meet the Easter Bunny. Bring three undecorated hard boiled eggs per child.

Location: Flushing – Queens Zoo, 53-51 111th St in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park
Participate in egg hunts, Egg Jeopardy, and meet the zoo’s Flemish giant rabbits. You can also take pictures with the Easter Bunny and decorate a spring-themed magnet.

Barnyard Easter Egg Hunt
Date: Saturday, April 23 noon-4pm
Location: Glen Oaks – Queens County Farm Museum, 73-50 Little Neck Parkway
Kids can search for eggs in the apple orchard ongoing throughout the day. They can also try egg tossing or egg rolling on the lawn. “Whiskers” the bunny hops around, greeting children. Families can also do the “Bunny Hop”, visit with the farm animals and even go on a hayride
Fifth Annual Easter fest
Date: Sunday, April 12:30-2pm
Location: Forest Hills – P.S. 101, 2 Russell Pl, Forest Hills, NY
The Ascension Presbyterian Church’s Fifth Annual Easterfest starts at 10:30am service and Sunday school. The egg hunt will be held at the PS101 playground if it rains it will be moved indoors to the cafeteria.

The Addams Family (Rotten) Egg Hunt
Date: Sunday April 24, 2011, 12:30pm
Location: Bronx Zoo
Cost: General admission children (3-12) $12, adults $16, senior (65+) $14
Two cast members from The Addams Family on Broadway, will make a special appearance and host a Rotten Easter Egg Hunt at Astor Court in Bronx Zoo. For each egg a child finds, they receive a special prize. All children will receive an Addams Family mask upon entering the zoo.
